​Fire detection systems are designed to discover fires and alarm occupants in the early stages when time is still available for the safe evacuation of occupants. The detection devices detect the presence of smoke, particles of combustion or heat and then generally alert through an alarm system. Most alarm systems are centralised to a Fire Indicator Panel which provides information to emergency respondents on the specific location of the fire. This speeds the process of fire control and assists with property protection and the safety of emergency response personnel. 

Regular testing of the Fire Indicator Panel detects any issues with detection devices that may impede timely evacuation procedures.
